The Number of Dancers Ranking (NODR) Data Byte is our first report to analyze dancer counts for the Largest 150 U.S. Ballet and Classically Based Companies ranked by FY 2023 expenditure. This Data Byte expands DDP’s ongoing effort to evaluate the relationship between company structure and expenditure to foster transparency in the dance industry.
DDP Research Lead Jenna Magrath shared, “DDP consistently seeks to listen to the ideas and needs emerging from across the dance ecosystem. Our Number of Dancers Ranking grew out of a thoughtful suggestion from Ballet Help Desk, and we deeply appreciate their partnership in identifying meaningful areas for further research.” She continued, “Expanding into new areas of inquiry like this allows us to better illuminate the realities shaping artists’ lives and company operations.”
