SUMMARY:Dance | NYC: Dance Workforce Resilience (DWR) Fund
DESCRIPTION:Made possible by the support of the Ford Foundation\, New York Community Trust\, and other generous funders\, the purpose of the Dance Workforce Resilience (DWR) Fund is to promote fair labor practices and addresses wage inequities and precarious working conditions for individual freelance dancers by providing awards tied to formal contracts to dancers within the New York City dance ecosystem. Currently in its pilot iteration\, the DWR Fund intends to: \n\nReduce the wage gap between individual freelance dancers and living wage standards in the NYC metropolitan area;\nIncentivize equitable labor practices by promoting the widespread use of contracts; and\nAddress systemic inequities by prioritizing the most underpaid and underprotected groups of dance workers including African\, Latina/o/x\, Asian\, Arab\, and Native American (ALAANA); disabled; immigrant; older adults; women-identifying; gender nonconforming/nonbinary/genderqueer; and transgender dancers.\n\nDance/NYC will award one-time flat grants of $1\,000 to individual freelance dancers in the metropolitan New York City area for contracted dance work that includes a public performance or presentation taking place within the NYC metro area\, completed between January 1\, 2025\, and April 30\, 2026. Rehearsals are recognized as work\, but projects are only eligible if the final performance or presentation occurs within the NYC metro area. Over the course of the grant period\, Dance/NYC will distribute $324\,000 to more than 320 awardees. Awards will be determined through a weighted lottery system. \nELIGIBILITY:  \n\nAre 18 or older;\nLive in the metropolitan NYC area (including the five boroughs of NYC\, as well as Nassau\, Rockland\, Suffolk\, and Westchester counties in New York State\, and Bergen and Hudson counties in New Jersey) and are able to provide proof of address;\nAre able to provide a fully executed contract that shows:\n\n​The contractor was:\n\nContracted for project-based dance work that includes a public performance or presentation; and\nContracted specifically as a dancer (note that choreographers are welcome to apply if they are also functioning as a dancer in the contracted work and can supply a contract to this effect).\nProvided via contract information on location\, pay rate\, contract period\, working hours and breaks\, payment terms\, dancer role\, independent contractor status\, and contractee information.\n\n\nThe contracted work occurred\n\nWithin the period of January 1\, 2025 to April 30\, 2026 with applications being accepted until March 2026\nThe performance or public presentation took place within the metropolitan NYC area (rehearsals alone do not qualify).\n\n\n\n\nAre able to provide the following information to process ACH bank transfers of awards:\n\nA complete W-9 Form; and\nBank Account Number and Routing Number.\n\nIf you are unable to receive funds via direct deposit\, your grant will be processed via check.\n\n\n\n\n\nYou are encouraged to apply if you are a current or past grantee of Dance/NYC or if you have not previously been funded by Dance/NYC.\nApplicants are not eligible to apply if they: \n\nAre under the age 18;\nLive outside of the metropolitan NYC area;\nAre being represented by a company (applications must be submitted by individual dancers);\nSubmit a contract including:\n\nwork distinguishing the applicant as a full time or ongoing employee (versus an independent contractor);\nwork as a non-dancer (e.g.\, choreographer who is not functioning as a dancer in the work\, arts administrator\, producer\, etc.);\nwork beyond the range of January 1\, 2025 to April 30\, 2026; or\nwork outside of the NYC metropolitan area.\n\n\n\nUPCOMING DEADLINE: March 3\, 2026

SUMMARY:Rauschenberg Dancer Emergency Grants
DESCRIPTION:The Rauschenberg Dancer Emergency Grants program provides one-time grants of up to $3\,000 to professional dancers facing dire financial emergencies\, due to the loss or lack of recent/current live performance work\, because of circumstances outside of their control. “Dire financial emergencies“ include the lack or imminent endangerment of essentials such as housing\, medicine/healthcare\, utilities\, and food. This grant program aims to provide dancers with greater stability to move forward by covering up to three months of essential expenses\, recognizing the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the dance sector\, as well as other recent career interruptions including illness or injury. \nELIGIBILITY \nIndividual Eligibility \n\nApplicants must: \n\nBe 21 years or older on the cycle’s deadline.\nReside in the United States\, the District of Columbia\, a Tribal Nation\, or a U.S. Territory.\nBe an artist in need\, having an adjusted gross income of $80\,000 or lower for an individual\, or $160\,000 for joint filers\, averaged over the last two federal tax returns.\nNot have received a Rauschenberg Medical or Dancer Emergency Grant within the last five years (since their original grant award date).\nNot be enrolled in any degree-seeking program.\nDemonstrate current and ongoing activity as a professional dancer (defined below).\n\nArtistic Eligibility \n\n\nApplicants must be a professional dancer. You need to have been working as a paid\, live dance performer for at least the last five years (since 2021)\, in any stage/performance style\, including but not limited to: contemporary\, modern\, ballet\, hip-hop and street styles\, tap\, traditional and cultural dance forms\, circus\, improvisation-based work\, and multi-genre or interdisciplinary performances where movement is primary.\nYou may apply if you perform in a variety of settings (for instance: ticketed stage performances\, free street festivals\, and music videos)\, as long as you have performed in live\, public-facing performances regularly since 2021 (at least one paid engagement annually).\nYou do not need to be a full-time dancer\, or receive your primary income through your dance performance.\nReduced activity during a period of up to 12 months due to medical or personal reasons is acceptable if\, in such cases\, you are able to demonstrate public activity prior to 2021.\nPerformances in educational/academic settings\, social dance\, competitive settings\, clubs or other commercial settings\, exotic dance\, commercials\, and industrials cannot be considered in this history of performing\, nor are  publications/papers/interviews in print or online.\nSelf-produced online presentation\, and/or performances shared solely through personal websites\, Instagram\, TikTok\, Facebook or other online platforms are not eligible.\nIf you perform your own work live\, your resume needs to clearly indicate that you were BOTH the choreographer and dancer.\n\nEmergency Eligibility \n\nApplicants must be experiencing a dire financial emergency that has occurred within approximately the last six months. This is defined as the lack or imminent endangerment of essentials such as housing\, medicine/healthcare\, utilities\, food and/or transportation. Your expenses must be direct\, out-of-pocket expenses for you individually.\nThe dire financial emergency needs to be the result of a loss or lack of current/recent (in the last six months) work as a paid dancer because of circumstances beyond your control. Common circumstances include canceled performances\, cutbacks or cancellations of dance engagement contracts\, loss of touring opportunities\, and illness or injury.\nThe expenses for which you are requesting funds must be incurred and paid within the U.S. (including D.C.\, Tribal Nations and U.S Territories).\nIn each cycle\, we can consider emergencies that have occurred within approximately the last six months. SUMMARY:K3 Choreographic Residency 2027/2028
DESCRIPTION:K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg provides three paid eight-month residencies to choreographers who are at the beginning of their career and have produced multiple choreographic works of their own. The residency begins in August 2027 and runs until April 2028. It includes a scholarship\, the use of the k3 studios\, a production budget\, as well as dramaturgical\, technical\, and production related support. Over the course of the residency\, the three choreographers research their own projects and develop a full-length piece that is presented in Hamburg. The goal of the residency is to develop and strengthen the connections between choreographic practice\, research\, artistic production\, and qualification. The duration of eight months should provide sufficient time and space for overcoming conventional rhythms of production and open up opportunities for exchange with other artists. \n\nELIGIBILIITY: \n\nThe applicant is at the beginning of their career  (between emerging to early mid-career) and should have already implemented some projects of their own (outside of an educational context).\nThe applicant has experience in producing their own projects and can provide up to 4 video links to full-length choreographies of their own.\nThe applicant is available for the entire duration of the residency from August 2027 until April 2028 to stay in Hamburg.\nThe applicant is willing to participate in K3’s outreach programme and other events at K3.\nThe applicant is interested both in engaging in exchange with other artists as well as with an interested audience.\nThe applicant already has some experience in / is interested in dealing with choreography on a discursive level\, reflecting their own work\, as well as working in a self-organised manner.\nOnly applications by individuals can be accepted. DESCRIPTION:The Bronx Cultural Visions Fund (BCVF) seeks to support the development of new ideas and the production of new work in the performing arts\, including but not limited to dance\, music\, theater\, performance art\, and multi-disciplinary performance work.
