SUMMARY:Artist Year Fellowship 2021-2022 Cohort
DESCRIPTION:NATIONAL SERVICE FOR CITIZEN-ARTISTS.\nArtistYear is the first national AmeriCorps program for artists to dedicate themselves to a year of service to our country.\n\nWHY WE EXIST \n4 million disadvantaged youth in our nation do not have access to arts education (National Endowment of Arts). Yet research shows when underserved students are involved in the arts\, they reap significant academic\, social\, and personal benefits.  ArtistYear’s mission is to address this Arts Education Gap by ensuring every underserved student in America has arts education through a National Service Arts Corps. \nWHAT WE DO\nWe do so by developing\, supporting and placing exceptional ArtistYear AmeriCorps Fellows–recent higher-education arts graduates across artistic disciplines including actors\, creative writers\, dancers\, designers\, filmmakers\, musicians\, photographers\, and visual artists –as full-time Teaching Artists at low-income schools. Once placed in a low-income school with a partner teacher\, each Fellow provides 1700 hours of arts education\, deepening the quality of\, and exposure to\, arts standards via “Push-In” Classes (integrating arts with other subjects)\, Arts Clubs (arts programming linked to school-day curriculum) and Arts Interventions (small group sessions for off-track/at risk youth). \nThis innovative strategy significantly bolsters arts education for our nation’s most vulnerable youth\, with all its attendant benefits\, while also improving student academic engagement\, enhancing school climate and capacity\, benefiting the larger community\, and underscoring the importance of service for the next generation of Citizen-Artists. \nWHAT IS THE 2021 COHORT APPLICATION TIMELINE?\nOur rolling application process is open! We are currently accepting applications for 2021-2022 in the following locations*: \n\nThe Borough of Queens\, New York\nPhiladelphia\, Pennsylvania\nThe Sandhills\, North Carolina\nRoaring Fork Valley\, Colorado\n\nDeadlines: \n\nMAY 24\, 2021 – DEADLINE\nWAITLIST NOTIFICATION: JUN 30\, 2021\n\nWHAT IS A FELLOW’S ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES?\nAn ArtistYear AmeriCorps Fellow’s role and responsibilities during their service year include: \n\nA full-time (40 hours) service week in a Title I school\, inclusive of:\n\nDirect teaching and school common-time hours\nCommunication\, meeting\, planning\, and preparation hours\nStudent performance or exhibition hours\nTraining and professional development requirements for school site and ArtistYear\n\n\nDesigning and teaching standards-based aligned arts education to disadvantaged youth\, that inspires active youth citizens and supports school culture and goals\, as well as ArtistYear’s standards.\nPreparing and executing high quality\, student-centered gallery openings\, performances and/or community arts events that highlight student process and achievement\, enhance school climate\, and engage the broader community.\nRegular communication\, meetings\, and collaboration with parents\, school staff members\, and ArtistYear leadership.\nAssisting school partner faculty members as requested;\nCompleting required documentation and records for school site and ArtistYear\, such as daily virtual standup participation\, blogging responsibilities\, timekeeping\, assessment protocols\, and lesson plans.\nFull attendance and participation in all required professional development and training\, including ArtistYear’s intensive Orientation & Training Institute during late summer.\nReceiving and implementing regular and supportive performance feedback from ArtistYear leadership and/or a school site supervisor.

SUMMARY:The Guggenheim Fellowship
DESCRIPTION:In 1925\, Senator Simon Guggenheim and his wife\, Olga\, established the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation in memory of their late son\, a promising young scholar who died at the age of 17. In his first letter of gift\, Senator Guggenheim wrote that the organization’s aim was to “add to the educational\, literary\, artistic\, and scientific power of this country.” The Guggenheim Foundation offers fellowships to exceptional individuals in pursuit of scholarship in any field of knowledge and creation of any artform\, under the freest possible conditions and irrespective of race\, color\, or creed. \nGuggenheim Fellowships are intended for mid-career individuals who have demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the arts and exhibit great promise for their future endeavors. \nThe amounts of grants vary\, and the Foundation does not guarantee it will fully fund any project. Working with a fixed annual budget\, the Foundation strives to allocate its funds as equitably as possible\, taking into consideration the Fellows’ other resources and the purpose and scope of their plans. Members of the teaching profession receiving sabbatical leave on full or part salary are eligible for appointment\, as are those holding other fellowships and appointments at research centers. \nEligibility: \n\nAll applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or Canada at the time of application.\nPersons who have already received a Guggenheim\nFellowship are not eligible to apply for another.\nGuggenheim Fellowships are not available for the creation of residencies\, curriculum development\, or any type of educational program\, nor are they available to support the development of websites or blogs.\nOur awards are intended for individuals only; they are not available to organizations\, institutions\, or groups.\nGuggenheim Fellowships are not open to students (undergraduate\, graduate\, or postgraduate). SUMMARY:Harvard University- Radcliffe Fellowship Program
DESCRIPTION:Radcliffe fellows are exceptional scientists\, writers\, scholars\, public intellectuals\, practitioners\, and artists whose work is making a difference in their professional fields and in the larger world. \nBased in Radcliffe Yard—a sanctuary in the heart of Harvard University—fellows join a uniquely interdisciplinary and creative community. A fellowship at Radcliffe is an opportunity to step away from usual routines and dive deeply into a project. With access to Harvard’s unparalleled resources\, Radcliffe fellows develop new tools and methods\, challenge artistic and scholarly conventions\, and illuminate our past and our present. \nThroughout the year\, fellows convene regularly to share their work in progress. Coming from diverse disciplines and perspectives\, they challenge each other’s ideas and support each other’s ambitions. Many say that it is the best year of their professional lives.

SUMMARY:The Virginia B. Toulmin Fellowship for Women Leaders in Dance
DESCRIPTION:The Virginia B. Toulmin Fellowship for Women Leaders in Dance is a unique fellowship designed for women choreographers and composers that promotes broader gender equity in the field of dance. These fellows work on projects that expand the way we think about the history\, practice\, and performance of dance. There is no expectation of a finished product. CBA Fellows are encouraged to ask questions and take risks. They gain colleagues they would not otherwise encounter. These engagements between artists and scholars\, two communities that do not often intersect\, strengthen and deepen the work of both.
