DESCRIPTION:The Bronx Cultural Visions Fund (BCVF) seeks to support the development of new ideas and the production of new work in the performing arts\, including but not limited to dance\, music\, theater\, performance art\, and multi-disciplinary performance work. Open to Bronx-based emerging and mid-career individual artists and organizations with budgets up to $250\,000\, BCVF awards are intended to have a meaningful impact on an artist’s career or an organization’s development. \nThere are two branches of BCVF grants: \n\nConcept Development grants will award up to $10\,000 to grantees with compelling ideas in need of seed      funding.\nProduction grants will award up to $20\,000 grantees who are ready to produce an already completed work.\n\nAll grantees will be eligible for an additional $2\,500 in Professional Enhancement Funds\, which can be used for professional skill-building\, learning opportunities\, or capacity-strengthening initiatives. \nELIGIBILITY \nWill a BCVF award meaningfully impact your career\, or your organization’s development? SUMMARY:K3 Choreographic Residency 2027/2028
DESCRIPTION:K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg provides three paid eight-month residencies to choreographers who are at the beginning of their career and have produced multiple choreographic works of their own. The residency begins in August 2027 and runs until April 2028. It includes a scholarship\, the use of the k3 studios\, a production budget\, as well as dramaturgical\, technical\, and production related support. Over the course of the residency\, the three choreographers research their own projects and develop a full-length piece that is presented in Hamburg. The goal of the residency is to develop and strengthen the connections between choreographic practice\, research\, artistic production\, and qualification. The duration of eight months should provide sufficient time and space for overcoming conventional rhythms of production and open up opportunities for exchange with other artists. \n\nELIGIBILIITY: \n\nThe applicant is at the beginning of their career  (between emerging to early mid-career) and should have already implemented some projects of their own (outside of an educational context).\nThe applicant has experience in producing their own projects and can provide up to 4 video links to full-length choreographies of their own.\nThe applicant is available for the entire duration of the residency from August 2027 until April 2028 to stay in Hamburg.\nThe applicant is willing to participate in K3’s outreach programme and other events at K3.\nThe applicant is interested both in engaging in exchange with other artists as well as with an interested audience.\nThe applicant already has some experience in / is interested in dealing with choreography on a discursive level\, reflecting their own work\, as well as working in a self-organised manner.\nOnly applications by individuals can be accepted. DESCRIPTION:The Rauschenberg Dancer Emergency Grants program provides one-time grants of up to $3\,000 to professional dancers facing dire financial emergencies\, due to the loss or lack of recent/current live performance work\, because of circumstances outside of their control. “Dire financial emergencies“ include the lack or imminent endangerment of essentials such as housing\, medicine/healthcare\, utilities\, and food. This grant program aims to provide dancers with greater stability to move forward by covering up to three months of essential expenses\, recognizing the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the dance sector\, as well as other recent career interruptions including illness or injury. \nELIGIBILITY \nIndividual Eligibility \n\nApplicants must: \n\nBe 21 years or older on the cycle’s deadline.\nReside in the United States\, the District of Columbia\, a Tribal Nation\, or a U.S. Territory.\nBe an artist in need\, having an adjusted gross income of $80\,000 or lower for an individual\, or $160\,000 for joint filers\, averaged over the last two federal tax returns.\nNot have received a Rauschenberg Medical or Dancer Emergency Grant within the last five years (since their original grant award date).\nNot be enrolled in any degree-seeking program.\nDemonstrate current and ongoing activity as a professional dancer (defined below).\n\nArtistic Eligibility \n\n\nApplicants must be a professional dancer. You need to have been working as a paid\, live dance performer for at least the last five years (since 2021)\, in any stage/performance style\, including but not limited to: contemporary\, modern\, ballet\, hip-hop and street styles\, tap\, traditional and cultural dance forms\, circus\, improvisation-based work\, and multi-genre or interdisciplinary performances where movement is primary.\nYou may apply if you perform in a variety of settings (for instance: ticketed stage performances\, free street festivals\, and music videos)\, as long as you have performed in live\, public-facing performances regularly since 2021 (at least one paid engagement annually).\nYou do not need to be a full-time dancer\, or receive your primary income through your dance performance.\nReduced activity during a period of up to 12 months due to medical or personal reasons is acceptable if\, in such cases\, you are able to demonstrate public activity prior to 2021.\nPerformances in educational/academic settings\, social dance\, competitive settings\, clubs or other commercial settings\, exotic dance\, commercials\, and industrials cannot be considered in this history of performing\, nor are  publications/papers/interviews in print or online.\nSelf-produced online presentation\, and/or performances shared solely through personal websites\, Instagram\, TikTok\, Facebook or other online platforms are not eligible.\nIf you perform your own work live\, your resume needs to clearly indicate that you were BOTH the choreographer and dancer.\n\nEmergency Eligibility \n\nApplicants must be experiencing a dire financial emergency that has occurred within approximately the last six months. This is defined as the lack or imminent endangerment of essentials such as housing\, medicine/healthcare\, utilities\, food and/or transportation. Your expenses must be direct\, out-of-pocket expenses for you individually.\nThe dire financial emergency needs to be the result of a loss or lack of current/recent (in the last six months) work as a paid dancer because of circumstances beyond your control. Common circumstances include canceled performances\, cutbacks or cancellations of dance engagement contracts\, loss of touring opportunities\, and illness or injury.\nThe expenses for which you are requesting funds must be incurred and paid within the U.S. (including D.C.\, Tribal Nations and U.S Territories).\nIn each cycle\, we can consider emergencies that have occurred within approximately the last six months. DESCRIPTION:Winning Works is The Joffrey Ballet’s annual choreographic competition for emerging artists. Through Winning Works\, The Joffrey aims to broaden access for artists who have been historically excluded from the art form and empower them to help shape the future of dance. \nEach year\, five choreographers—including one Chicago-based emerging artist—are selected to create new works in collaboration with dancers from the Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet. Selected artists receive a $5\,000 stipend\, a minimum of 30 rehearsal hours\, and travel and accommodations for the duration of their residency. \nELIGIBILITY: \nThe Joffrey Ballet is looking for talented choreographers with 2+ years of experience setting work on classically trained dancers. DESCRIPTION:There are two distinct grant opportunities for the New England States Touring (NEST) program: NEST 1 and NEST 2. Organizations engaging rural communities and/or Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities are encouraged to apply. \nNEST 1\nFunds the public presentation and community engagement activities of a New England artist presented by a New England nonprofit organization based in a different New England state from the artist’s home state. \nNEST 2\nFunds the public presentation and community engagement activities of a New England artist presented by two New England nonprofit organizations. A NEST 2 tour must include one presenting organization based inside of the artist’s home state and one other organization from outside of the artist’s home state. \nBoth presenting organizations must complete their own application and both applications must be submitted for the same deadline. Both the in-state and out-of-state presenting organizations must have their grant applications approved in order to for all presenters to receive funding. If only the out-of-state partner’s application is approved for funding\, the engagement may be converted into a NEST 1 grant. \nA “presenter” is defined as an organization that financially compensates an artist/ensemble (where the artist/ensemble is a separate entity from the presenter) for performance(s) in the presenter’s community. Producing organizations that solely create artistic work or assemble artists to perform as ensembles for performances are not eligible to apply. Presenters may include arts centers\, festivals\, social service organizations\, libraries\, schools\, and more. \nThere are three application deadlines each year. They are the first business days of August\, December\, and April. In NEFA’s FY26 (June 1\, 2025 – May 31\, 2026)\, there will only be two deadlines: December 1\, 2025 and April 1\, 2026.\nPresenting organizations may submit a maximum of two NEST 1 and/or NEST 2 applications\, in any combination\, per deadline .\nGrants provide up to 60% of the artist fee and range from $500 to a maximum of $5\,000. Artists’ fees may include costs for creation of new work\, travel\, and per diem.\nApplications with artist fees under $2\,000 may request the full artist fee.\nThe artist must be listed as NEST-Eligible on the CreativeGround directory.\nOrganizations may submit a maximum of two NEST 1 and/or NEST 2 applications\, in any combination\, per deadline. SUMMARY:Indigo Arts Alliance Mentorship Residency Program
DESCRIPTION:The Indigo Arts Alliance studio located in Portland\, Maine is the host site for our Mentorship Artists Residency program. This program is the heart of IAA\, modeling our values of global community building. Our goal is to bring together artists from diverse backgrounds of the African Diaspora to engage in their creative process\, while building lasting relationships rooted in co-mentorship. We believe artists hold the key in creating a better world\, and in our work\, we allow for Black and Brown voices to lead the way. \nEligibility: \n\nArtists must be a descendent from any of the African nations\, African-American\, Afro-Latin\, Caribbean\, i.e.\, the communities inhabiting the geographic breadth of all the places where Africans were displaced as a result of the transatlantic slave trade\, Native Americans\, indigenous peoples\, Latinx\, Southeast Asian/Indian African Ocean World\, the Middle East\, and the Pacific Rim.\nResidents should have 2+ years of exhibition and/or studio experience.\nArtists must present a sustained commitment to their practice\, risk-taking\, and clear concepts and creative methodologies that advance artistic expression.\nArtists must demonstrate a relationship with the communities in which they live\, work\, or care about.\nApplicants must be 21+ at the time of the proposed residency.\nArtists of all disciplines are encouraged (Painting\, sculpture\, illustration\, writing\, dance\, music\, theater/performance\, photography\, fiber/textiles\, etc).\nApplicants cannot be enrolled in a full-time academic program at the time of the residency.\nIf artists maintain a full time job\, they must plan their work schedules to accommodate a minimum of 75% time in the studio during residency.\nApplicants must have the most up to date COVID-19 vaccination at least 3 months prior to the start of their proposed residency. DESCRIPTION:At 24 SEVEN\, our mission is to provide dancers opportunities to grow far beyond their experience on the convention weekend. Scholarship auditions and opportunities are a great way for dancers to receive recognition for all their hard work. The auditions also provide a “real world experience” where dancers can learn their strengths and weaknesses in an audition room. Dancers must audition by their age as of January 1\, 2025. ALL DANCERS MUST BE IN THEIR “AGE APPROPRIATE” ROOM FOR THE NON-STOP DANCER AUDITION AS WELL AS THE PRECEDING AUDITION COMBO CLASS. Dancers will learn a short jazz or lyrical routine in the class prior to the audition. During the audition\, dancers will be broken up into groups and the 24 SEVEN faculty will evaluate their performance. \nDancers will be chosen by the faculty in each of the following age groups: Mini (8-10)\, Junior (11-12)\, Teen (13-15) and Senior (16-19). The selected students will be announced at the end of the audition. These students will be the “Non-Stop Dancers”! All Non-Stop Dancers will be called up on stage during the Closing Show on Sunday afternoon where the Winners and remaining Runners-up in each age division will be announced. PLEASE NOTE: Dancers must attend ALL classes and wear their scholarship numbers for all of Saturday’s and Sunday’s classes. \nOnce you are a Non-Stop Dancer Winner in one regional city\, you are not eligible to be a Non-Stop Dancer (Winner or Runner-up) or win a High 5 Scholarship in another city. Each day features extensive studio time for Fellows to advance their choreographic ideas through research and experimentation. Fellows invite two dancers to join them onsite to ensure that work developed at the Pillow can continue in their communities if desired. \nFor eight choreographers who have been creating professional work for a minimum of two years. \nELIGIBILITY \nChoreographers from varied traditions\, who work in the United States and internationally\, and consider themselves early to mid-career choreographers\, with or without academic training\, are welcomed to apply. SUMMARY:Small Plates Choreography Festival
DESCRIPTION:CALL FOR DANCE MAKERS \nApplications are open for Small Plates Choreography Festival Austin 2025\, a series of two curated dance performances to be presented on Friday\, September 5 and Saturday\, September 6\, at Ground Floor Theatre located in the nationally renowned eclectic artistic community of Austin\, Texas. \nHosted by Austin Movement Artist Jennifer Williams of Haven Movement Company. \nProgramming: Dance works of any dance genre up to 10 minutes in length will be considered for inclusion in one of two performances. \nSmall Plates welcomes the applications of all genres of dance. We are most interested in work that explores the intimate nature of this performance\, the uniqueness of the venue (more below)\, and the impact on the community and our audience members. Accepted applicants are expected to perform the piece with which they applied. \nVenue: \nGround Floor Theatre is a black box theatre venue that seats up to 114 audience members. It is fully equipped with wings\, backstage and a green room with a bathroom. The floor is smooth cement and is not sprung. Shoes are welcome to be worn during performances\, but barefoot dance is accepted and commonly seen in this venue. Performers will remain backstage during the entirety of the show. \nTechnical Support: Basic stage lighting and a video projector will be available. Choreographers will provide three lighting cues with basic looks (no specials) and any sound and video files relevant to their work within one week of acceptance. Technical rehearsals will take place on Thursday\, September 4 for local artists\, and the day of the performance for out of town artists. Each artist will be given 20-30 minutes for their tech\, and call for all performers is two hours prior to showtime. \nPost-Performance Talkback: Small Plates creates a growth environment by facilitating feedback sessions with the audience after each performance. All performers and choreographers are expected to remain on-site after the performance to engage with the audience in dialogue about their work. The artist/audience interface is what makes Small Plates truly special\, and the arts-infused community of Austin\, Texas will undoubtedly bring thought-provoking inquiry. Please consider this discussion as part of the performance when considering your travel needs. \nVideo: Please submit a video link for the work you would to present in your application. Applications without a video link will not be considered (please do not email the video) and montage videos cannot be adjudicated. Studio footage is acceptable. Completed work will be given preference over work-in-progress. \nFees: An application fee of $50.00 per piece is required. Your fee must be paid via Paypal before your work will be considered. All fees collected will directly support the selected artists in their performance. *We do not have funds available for fee waivers at this time.* \nAdjudication: Entries will be adjudicated by career dance professionals from around the country that specialize in various areas in the field. Our mission is to create an impactful growth environment for artists and audiences by producing curated showcase-style performances. Adjudicators will be looking for pieces that exhibit a combination of artistry and performance quality full of innovation\, diversity and various cultural perspectives. Programming decisions will weigh the opinions of the adjudicators alongside other factors\, including balancing the program between local and traveling artists.
