Australian Ballet Telstra Emerging Choreographer (TEC)

July 13, 2021

New choreography is the lifeblood of The Australian Ballet.

Together with Principal Partner Telstra, we’re creating a new pathway for emerging Australian choreographers in all dance styles to develop their skills and foster their talent.

TEC will give up to four aspiring choreographers the opportunity to create a work; the winner will be featured in our 2022 Bodytorque program and receive a cash prize of $10,000.

TEC is open to all dance styles.

The “joy of dance” is the inspiration for this year’s initiative. Applicants will be required to submit a short written and video submission on what they would like to create if chosen as a finalist.

Up to four finalists will be selected and commissioned to create a piece of between four and six minutes, choosing from a selection of music provided by the company. The finalists will receive a budget of up to $2,500 to help create their work. The winner will be announced during the Bodytorque season in Melbourne this October.

All applicants must be 18 years or over and in Australia. Applications close Tuesday 13 July.
