- On April 20, 2023: The Hanover State Ballet Announced that Christian Blossfeld (male) has been appointed as the company’s new Ballet Director. Prior to this announcement, Blossfeld was appointed as the Interim Ballet Director taking over from Marco Goecke (male).
Vienna State Ballet Announces Departure of Artistic Director
- On April 13, 2023: Vienna State Ballet Artistic Director, Martin Schläpfer (male), announced that he will not renew his contract with the company when it expires in 2025. As of the date of this post, no successor has been appointed.
San Francisco Ballet Announces Departure of Executive Director

- On April 19, 2023: Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet announced that Noelani Pantastico (female) has been appointed as Artistic Director of the Organization. West Australia Ballet Announces Artistic Director Transition
- On March 29, 2023: the West Australian Ballet announced that Aurélien Scannella (male) will step down as Artistic Director of the company at the end of the 2023 season. The company also announced that David McAllister (male) has been appointed as the 2024 Guest Artistic Director. McAllister is currently serving as Interim Artistic Director at the New Zealand Ballet. This is a male-to-male transition.
Ballet Memphis Announces New School and Youth Company Directors
- On March 30, 2023: Ballet Memphis announced that effective June 2023, Virginia Ramey (female) and Brandon Ramey (male) will begin their tenure as co-directors of Ballet Memphis’ school and Youth Ballet Memphis. They will succeed Janet Parke (female) in this role, while Parke moves into her new role as Senior Artistic Associate with Ballet Memphis.

Semperoper Ballet Announces New Artistic Director
- On March 22, 2023: the Semperoper Ballet announced that Kinsun Chan (male) will succeed the current artistic manager, Marcelo Gomes (male), as artistic director of the company effective at the beginning of the 2024/2025 season. The company also announced that for the 2023/2024 season, Marcelo Gomes (male) and Adi Luick (male), as Artistic Manager and Company Manager respectively, will share the responsibilities of the company. This is a male-to-male transition.
Bangarra Dance Theater Announces New Executive Director
- On March 17, 2023: Bangarra Dance Theater announced that Ken Markwell (male) has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Bangarra Dance Theater. Markwell succeeds Lissa Twomey (female) who announced her resignation in October 2022. This is a female-to-male transition.
