DANCE DATA PROJECT® WELCOMES EMILY HARTKA AND EMILY GREEN TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Northbrook, IL | May 20, 2026 | Dance Data Project® (DDP) is proud to announce the addition of two notable female leaders in arts administration and financial management to its Board of Directors: Emily Green, Head of Wealth Management at Ellevest; and Emily Hartka, nonprofit executive and co-founder of Charlottesville Ballet.
Emily Green was recognized as one of Crain’s New York Business Women of Influence in 2024 and has been featured in Barron’s, CNBC, Bloomberg, SiriusXM, and the Wall Street Journal, discussing wealthcare and legacy planning in the industry. As the Head of Wealth Management at Ellevest, the first investment firm created by women, for women, she advises high and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families to align their money to their values while achieving their financial goals. Green is dedicated to helping women achieve financial strength and independence while fostering a culture of inclusivity and impact.
Green joined DDP’s Board of directors in February. She has already been a vital and active Board member, contributing essential energy and focus.
“What excites me most about this work is how it blends my professional experience with my lifelong love for the arts,” comments Green. “DDP uses data not just to explore gender equity and leadership trends in dance, but to support women and underrepresented creators across artistic and administrative roles.”
Emily Hartka co-established Charlottesville Ballet in 2007 and grew the company from a small community-based organization into a regional cultural institution. The company is now ranked #64 of the Largest 150 Ballet and Classically-Based Companies. After retiring from the stage in 2018, Hartka focused her work as Co-Founder on institutional development, governance strategy, and long-term sustainability. She has led fundraising growth, multi-institution collaborations, and the expansion of community-based programs that integrate health, intergenerational engagement, and accessibility into classical ballet structures. Hartka brings hands-on experience navigating artistic leadership and the evolving landscape of the arts in regional communities. She and DDP President & Founder Elizabeth “Liza” Yntema reconnected on a recent Listening Tour in March of this year.
“I am honored to join the Board of Dance Data Project® and to help advance our field through action informed by data,” said Hartka. “After 18 years of building a regional ballet company, I look forward to bringing a founder’s perspective, grounded in real-world challenges and meaningful institutional transformation, to a national scale. As a mother of two young children, I am deeply committed to valuing the human capital in ballet and elevating best practices, transparency, and accountability across our art form.”
“As DDP continues to expand its scope, bringing leaders onto our Board who have such successful business and arts backgrounds is essential,” said DDP President & Founder Elizabeth ‘Liza’ Yntema. “These two women are brilliant, innovative individuals who each bring unique qualities to DDP.” She continued, “Ms. Hartka is a leader with strong community ties, and an established record of success in elevating women within and beyond their organizations. Ms. Green is a financial heavyweight, dedicated to education and investment in the process of women’s financial well-being. They exemplify the highest ethics and a lived commitment to helping girls and women thrive. Both women perfectly encapsulate the dual mission of DDP: to increase gender equity in the dance sector through uplifting women and to empower the next generation of female leaders. We are honored that they have chosen to work with us.”
