2026 Dance Film Commission

October 20

We’re commissioning 3 short dance films from around the world!

Each selected filmmaker will receive $5,000usd – please scope your idea and budget accordingly. Films should be between 3-10 minutes long.

Rights: Filmmaker retains full copyright, we are here to uplift YOU. In exchange for the commission, Dance Filmmaking will receive exclusive distribution rights for 10 years, after which DF’s rights become non-exclusive and filmmaker can pursue their own licensing deals. All profits are split 50/50. Filmmaker is encouraged to submit to festivals once film is finished. The films will have their online premiere on DanceFilmmaking.com after their festival run is complete, and will be eligible for the Dance Film of the Year award. Full terms will be provided in the contract for selected filmmakers.

ELIGIBILITY

Film length must be between 3-10 minutes. Everything else is open ended.
